Emergency Assistance
WeCAN’s Family Advocate coordinates our Emergency Assistance Program. Qualified residents of WeCAN’s service area are eligible for no-interest loans. Loans are available for a variety of basic needs like rent, damage deposit and utilities.
Program Description
The Emergency Assistance program is available to those who live in Western Communities Action Network service area. If a client resides out of this area WeCAN will refer to the appropriate social service agency.
WeCAN’s services the following communities; Spring Park, Mound, Minnetrista, Minnetonka Beach, Tonka Bay, St. Bonifacius, Maple Plain, Independence, Loretto, Greenfield, Rockford, and Western Orono.
Emergency Assistance is used to prevent homelessness by helping families resolve their crisis with housing, utilities or other essential basic needs therefore becoming self-sufficient and stable.
Emergency Assistance eligibility is determined through a thorough application process, including identity, address and income verifications. Assistance for rent, damage deposit, mortgage, and utility is available to people in the form of no-interest loans.
