Medical Insurance Application Assistance

WeCAN provides assistance for families and individuals in the application process for Medical Assistance or Minnesota Care.

Program Description
Medical Assistance is a state-subsidized health care program for people who live in Minnesota and don’t have health insurance. Like other health insurance plans, Minnesota Care provides coverage for many medical expenses. You can get coverage under Minnesota Care if you have an existing medical condition or illness, however, to qualify for Minnesota Care you must meet certain guidelines.

Who Is Eligible?
* You live in Minnesota (some adults may have a waiting period).
* You don’t have health insurance now and haven’t had any (including Medicare) for at least the last four months. (Some children may still be eligible even if they have health insurance.)
* Your employer doesn’t offer health insurance OR you employer offers health insurance, but pays less than half the monthly premium.
* You meet income guidelines
